What was a difficult season turned devastating Monday afternoon for Maranatha High quarterback Andrew Elffers.
The All-Area first-teamer was informed after an MRI that he had torn the meniscus in his right knee, requiring season-ending surgery.
"It's obviously difficult and disappointing news for Andrew. He's a leader on this team and was looking forward to his senior year," Maranatha second-year Coach Pete Karavedas said. "Andrew is man of faith and this is difficult to understand. But sometimes our plans aren't God's plans and we put our faith in him."
