Construction of the Metro Gold Line extension from Pasadena to Azusa is under way, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich announced Tuesday.

Antonovich said in a statement that as a result of a March court decision allowing for acquisition of a maintenance yard in Monrovia and a February agreement to take over the right-of-way previously in the possession of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Co., “It’s full speed ahead for the Gold Line to Azusa…"

"Work now begins on the next phase which will be extending the Gold Line from Azusa to Claremont," he stated. "San Bernardino County is also currently developing the plan to connect the Gold Line to Ontario Airport and integrate this regional airport into our rail transportation system.”
